How to Make Snow Cream

FacebooktwitterpinterestmailFacebooktwitterpinterestmail

In honor of the snow we received over the weekend, I’m re-posting our family-favorite recipe for Snow Cream!

Every good snowstorm we have (which isn’t too frequent here in Virginia!), we reserve a nice clean patch of snow with the promise of this treat in mind,

We made up this recipe when our oldest boys were little. Now, everyone looks forward to when Dad makes this special winter treat.

  • 1 1/2 to 2 c. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. vanilla
  • 2 c. milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 qt. clean snow

Combine sugar, vanilla, milk, and eggs in saucepan.

Boil until sugar is dissolved (about 5 minutes).

Strain the mixture so there aren’t little pieces of egg in finished product.

Cool completely; (set pan outside in snow to chill.)

When cold, combine syrup mixture and snow, mix thoroughly.

Serve immediately.

This is just one of the recipes you will find in our family cookbook- Homemade with Love
